Working
as an independent consultant has its pros and cons.
On the pro side, I love the freedom to pick and choose
engagements that best fit my set of skills, and the
freedom to work with customers I enjoy. On the con
side, I often come across opportunities that are outside
of my area of expertise or that could be potential
opportunities for me if I were able to bring a few
missing pieces to the table.
In
the past, when faced with those situations, I have
had to walk away, refer to other consultants who had
the expertise required, or spend valuable time and
resources looking for someone with whom to partner.
None of these options were optimal...
