Our contact center clients know us as a full service management consulting and services firm. As Affiliates and partners, you know us as a platform for leveraging what you do best. This month we hear from both an Affiiliate and a key member of our core team about what it means to be part of our virtual collaboration.

Rick Deblock, a veteran call center consultant who likes to "go deep," has done so in a variety of situations over the past twenty-odd years. He checks in from an assignment in the midwest to extoll the virtues of specialization. And Elaine Squitteri shares with us how her experience and passions serve her in her dual role as leader of our Customer Value Optimization practice as well as our "chief Affiliate advocate." And we're very pleased to formally announce the newest member of our executive team, and COO, Bert Frydman.

We're delighted and truly fortunate to have Rick, Elaine, and Bert in our corner, and I'm sure that as you get involved with our community you'll understand why we feel that way.

    "Narrow-focus or Specialization?"
by Rick Deblock, Affiliate, Intervox Group

I tend to dig in and focus on the various tasks at hand to complete projects when engaged - to the neglect of that "wasting of time" element - selling the next job. Some people would call that proclivity a fault - narrow-focused - has "the ol' blinders on". I must admit, it has certainly hampered my practice. NO KIDDING!

Other people call it specialization. Now that sounds good, doesn't it? Something that seems to work in the medical field and even works outside that field if you're in a large enough organization. But for a one man shop, specialization is normally a route to sure death.

Within InterVox, specialization is part of the model. A virtual organization that is large enough to allow me to specialize in doing the work while you specialize on selling the job (you ARE out there trying to sell my next project, aren't you?). You get to schmooze the client. I get to stay up late at night working in Visio or MS Project. Cool, huh? ... (more)

    Meet Elaine: Chief Affiliiate Advocate

by Elaine Squitteri, Director Affiliate Relations and CVO Practice Leader

John asked me to introduce myself in this month's iLink and describe my role on the Executive team. First, let me say that it's my pleasure to join the InterVox Professional Community and be of service to the Affiliate Network. This is an ingenious business model with tremendous opportunity for clients to benefit from leveraging our virtual, collaborative network of experienced consultants.

However, this is not the main reason why I joined InterVox Group ...

    The Tool Exchange

Instant Messaging (IM) has become a common and very useful tool for communicating with friends, relatives and business associates. The immediate, instantaneous nature of IM makes it ideal for holding quick ad-hoc conversations or for quickly getting an answer to a question without the need to make phone calls or send e-mail messages. The major obstacle to achieving a much wider acceptance and use of IM for business is the fact that IM software is proprietary and will only allow for communication among users of a single vendor's tool.

This month's offering, Trillian, bridges the IM gap. Trillian is a fully featured, stand-alone, client that supports AIM, ICQ, MSN, Yahoo Messenger, and IRC. It provides capabilities not possible with original network clients, while supporting standard features such as audio chat, file transfers, and group chats. The basic version is free, and a "pro" version offers enhanced features at a very reasonable price. Here is the link: Universal Instant Messenger.

We have received excellent response from the Tool Exchange and want to make it as useful as possible to you. If you have a favorite application or trick of the trade that you'd like to share with the Affiliate community, let us know at toolx@intervoxgroup.com . The only requirement is that submissions be in the public domain, and, naturally, we will let your fellow Affiliates know whom to thank.

Five Strategies for Better Business Development
     by Lon Hendrickson, Marketing Director

You can boil down much of the thinking on how independent consultants increase the success of their business development efforts to just five things. For the sake of this newsletter we're going to keep it simple, so let's drill down to the key premises and get specific as to how they work for you through InterVox. The five key strategies are: 1) Sharpen your focus, 2) Play to your strengths, 3) Position yourself for success, 4) Create leverage, and 5) Do great work.
